How Etsy fees are calculated for US sellers
A typical Etsy sale carries three fees: a listing fee, a transaction fee, and a payment processing fee. Orders that come from Etsy’s Offsite Ads carry a fourth. This calculator applies the US rates from Etsy’s Fees & Payments Policy and the Etsy Payments Policy, checked in October 2026.
| Fee | US rate | Charged on |
|---|---|---|
| Listing fee | $0.20 | Each listing, renewed for each item sold |
| Transaction fee | 6.5% | Item price + shipping + gift wrap (not sales tax) |
| Payment processing | 3% + $0.25 | Gross order amount, including shipping and sales tax |
| Offsite Ads fee | 15% (12% for shops over $10,000 in yearly sales) | Attributed orders only, capped at $100 per order |
What the results mean
- Total Etsy fees: the sum of all four fees on this order.
- Fees as % of order: total fees divided by the order total (items + shipping + gift wrap). Without Offsite Ads, most orders land around 10–11%; one Offsite Ads sale can push that past 20%.
- Profit per order: order total minus Etsy fees, your item cost, and the shipping label you pay for.
- Margin: profit divided by order total.
Example with the default inputs: a $35 item plus $5.99 shipping is a $40.99 order. Etsy fees come to about $4.34 ($0.20 + $2.66 + $1.48), item cost is $12, and the label costs $5.50, leaving roughly $19.15 in profit, a 47% margin.

The calculator covers the core US fees on a single order. It does not include Etsy Ads (on-site advertising), Etsy Plus subscriptions, shipping label discounts, currency conversion fees for non-USD listings, deposit fees, or refunds. If you list in a currency other than USD or sell from outside the US, your rates differ. Etsy can change its fees, so check the official policy pages before you set prices.
